About the Client
The Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones, also known simply as MODON is a government organization created by the Government of Saudi Arabia in 2001. It is responsible for the regulation and promotion of Industrial Estates and Technology Zones in Saudi Arabia and to encourage the private sector to become involved in the development, operation and maintenance of Industrial Estates.
What was their challenge?
The development process was not defined in a tool and the Application Lifecycle Management was a difficult process to track where each new business request requires multi-team engagement, and each team serves a different function under the IT department hat, including business analysts, developers, project managers, release and configuration personnel.
MODON was looking for a tool to implement Application Lifecycle Management. This tool shall bring different teams to work together in a single platform to have good tracking visibility, effective code integration, continuous delivery and deployment. A tool that allows all the functional teams to work effectively and seamlessly.
What solutions did Infosysta provide to overcome the challenge?
The IT department was having different bottlenecks in their process caused by manual administrative tasks and was looking for a way to track their processes, deadlines, risks, and application road map in one place. Jira Software, Bitbucket, and Bamboo motivated them to move forward with the investment and transition.
Infosysta supported the IT department in MODON in the journey of applying best practices and moved to implementation, automation plans, culture building, training, and support, ensuring the IT department get the best out of the Atlassian suite.
What were the results?
Process Tracking
Jira Software allowed different teams at MODON to introduce Agile methodology into their culture be it Scrum, Kanban, or MODON’s own unique flavour. Teams can plan, track, and manage all software development projects from a single tool allowing the team to release faster with higher quality software.
Document Collaboration
Confluence added a great value to the implementation by presenting a collaboration wiki tool helping teams to collaborate and share knowledge efficiently. Confluence offered an open place where it connected all teams (IT & Business) to up to date ideas and information and helped everyone do their best work.
Code Collaboration
Bitbucket introduced a version control repository hosting service and gave teams one place to plan projects, collaborate on code, test, deploy and ship in an efficient manner. With the help of Jira Software integration, the development team in MODON has the visibility to track/locate each code change.
Automated Deployments
Bamboo introduced a continuous integration (CI) server to automate the release management for a software application, creating a continuous delivery pipeline including building and functional testing, tagging releases, assigning versions, deploying and activating the new version in production.
